PL Gallery: Richard Mizdal: Giclée and Paintings

Experience an exhibit of realist paintings by Rick Mizdal, who happens to be a member of Peconic Landing. Mizdal has exhibited at Suffolk County Community College, East End Arts and the Time/Life building in New York City as well as galleries throughout Long Island. He has also taught fine arts and photographic imaging at SCCC.
The show will feature 16 oil and acrylic paintings and 11 high definition prints, all 102 inches in height and ranging from 10 inches to 12 feet horizontally.

Jeremy Dennis explores Native American history “On This Site”

Shinnecock Tribal member Jeremy Dennis explores indigenous and sacred locations, historical landscapes and archaeological sites located across the North Fork. Jeremy will lead us through his research-based art and photography project “On This Site” where he investigates Native American history of the North Fork.
Join us Friday, November 17th at 4 PM as we celebrate his Artist-in-Residence in collaboration with The Watermill Center here at Peconic Landing.
“On This Site: The Indigenous People of Suffolk County,” is an exhibition of photographs that feature landscapes of cultural and historical significance to Native Americans. The goal of Mr. Dennis’s project is to reinforce his cultural identity and that of other tribal members living in Suffolk, to raise awareness of Native American culture and to preserve significant and sacred sites.

Lankedem decides to sell her to the Pasha. Inspired by Lord Byron’s epic poem and reworked by Alexei Ratmansky from Petipa’s exotic 19th-century classic, this miracle of the repertoire is one of the Bolshoi’s most lavish productions. Complete with a magnificent awe-inspiring shipwreck and dramatic scenery, this grand romance allows enough dancing for nearly the entire company and is made especially for those who seek miracles in theatre.

Health Talks: Diabetes with Dr. Alan Goldenberg, Endocrinologist

Eastern Long Island Hospital presents a Diabetes Update with endocrinologist, Alan Goldenberg, MD, F.A.C.E. Awarded one of NY Top Doctors 9 years in a row, Dr. Goldenberg is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. He earned his medical degree at the Stony Brook School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship in Endocrine, Diabetes and Metabolism at Winthrop University Hospital. Dr. Goldenberg is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology, a member of the American Diabetes Association and is recognized for Quality Diabetes Care by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. He has been treating patients on the East End of Long Island for over 15 years.

A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play

Peconic Landing will present Joe Landry’s, A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play, on Sunday, December 10th at 2:00 PM in the Community Center at Peconic Landing.
Admission is free. The Charles Dickens holiday classic comes to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast, complete with vintage commercials for fruitcake (extra-fancy), and the magic of live sound effects and musical underscoring. A handful of actors bring dozens of characters to the stage, as the familiar story unfolds: Three ghosts take Ebenezer Scrooge on a thrilling journey to teach him the true meaning of Christmas. A charming take on a family favorite that will leave no one saying “Bah Humbug!” Michael Disher directs with a spectacular cast including Joyce Pitkin, Daniel Becker, Richard Gardini, Joey Giovingo and Barbara Jo Howard.

Traditional holiday favorites performed live by a unique musical group. A great way to get in the spirit! Members of the Harbor Bells have been performing together since 1993. In April 2006 they became a community English handbell choir and have been entertaining and inspiring audiences on the North and South forks since that time. Some of the selected works this season will be: Good King Wenceslas, Joy to the World, Jingle Bells, It came upon the Midnight Clear, O Little Town of Bethlehem, and We Three Kings.

New York, 1971. There’s a party on the stage of the Weismann Theatre. Tomorrow the iconic building will be demolished. Thirty years after their final performance, the Follies girls gather to have a few drinks, sing a few songs and lie about themselves.
Tracie Bennett, Janie Dee and Imelda Staunton play the magnificent Follies in this dazzling new production. Featuring a cast of 37 and an orchestra of 21, it’s directed by Dominic Cooke (The Comedy of Errors).
Winner of Academy, Tony, Grammy and Olivier awards, Sondheim’s previous work includes A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd and Sunday in the Park with George.
